INVOKE THE PAST

IGNITE THE PRESENT

IMAGINE THE FUTURE

Based in the Detroit metro area, Renaissance City Repertory Theatre (RC Rep) produces invigorating and thought-provoking theatre that invokes the past, ignites the present, and imagines the future. Drawing primarily on contemporary and classical work from the international canon, RC Rep invites audiences to view the issues of today through the eyes of global writers.

RC Rep seeks to cultivate cross-cultural collaborations and develop new theatrical stories that speak to national and international audiences by means of our biennial initiative (R)evolutions: A New Works Festival. The selected playwrights are each paired with a dramaturg to further develop the playwright's new play. The play is then workshopped with a director and cast and presented to the public in a staged reading. Each reading is followed by a facilitated talkback with the audience.

(R)evolutions 2025:
Kristen V. Field (Australia) – care
Sofía Méndez Ramírez (Mexico) – Martial Chant

(R)evolutions – Crossing Borders – 2023:
Cris Eli Blak (USA) – Challenging Brown
Jessica Moss (Canada) – IMPOSTER!

RC Rep's programming is intentionally chosen to cultivate a synergy between our artists and audiences. We do this through staged-readings of new and published plays, unique theatrical presentations, and our main stage production series Alarums & Excursions.

RC Rep is committed to building a safe and inclusive working environment where a diverse company of artists, administrators and audiences can converge on our urban theatrical playground.
